Commonly called Smooth Aster, this native perennial produces large numbers of small, attractive violet-blue to blue-purple flowers in fall. Plants spread slowly by rhizomes and self-seeding. Asters are highly attractive to butterflies and an important food source for all pollinators. Easy to grow in average to dry soils and full sun. Drought tolerant. Attracts pollinators.
